Rare Antique French 19th Century Hard Stone Cameo Natural Pearls Enamel 18K Gold Safety Pin Brooch

Fabulous antique French hard stone cameo and 18 karat gold safety pin brooch from the late 19th century. The exquisitely carved carnelian oval cameo represent a young woman looking to the left. The cameo is set in an engraved gold bezel with around a first decorative oval of black enamel and a a second of natural seed pearls, with one 2mm pearl above the cameo and one under. On each side of the cameo 2 ornate gold motives with black enamel have a natural 3.5 mm natural pearl in their center. The closure is safety pin style, it was used in the 19th century and early 20th century. 

I could not find any hallmark on it but it tested as 18 karat gold which was by law the requirement in France for gold jewelry. I believe it to have been made by a skilled master jeweler in Provence. 

It is in mint antique condition.
